International Buddhist Confederation revives Charter and approves working plan

The International Buddhist Confederation’s Standing Committee (Working Committee) held a conference on September 1-2 in New Delhi, India to discuss the IBC organization’s Charter.

The first day session, chaired by Secretary General of IBC Most Venerable Lama Lobzang, discussed and revived its Charter for ensuring its accordance with India’s Constitution and laws.

The second day session was presided by Most Venerable Thích Thiện Tâm, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council cum member of the IBC Dharma Supreme Council. During the session, the Working Committee developed a plan of religious activities from September 2015 to the end of 2016, which include 20 important activities, such as 150th birth anniversary of late Ven. Anagarica Dharmapala in October 9-10, an international conference on India and ASEAN countries in December 12-14 and an international workshop on preservation, restoration and development of Buddhist heritage sites in Nepal in January 15, 2016…

Concluding the conference, Most Venerable Lama Lobzang called on the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council to establish and inaugurate the office of the IBC in Vietnam.

The IBC was established in August, 2011 with more than 320 organization members from 39 countries, operating under the motto: “Collective wisdom”, “United voice”, with the aim to share solutions for current national and international issues of concern for mankind.
