The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) held on December 10-11 the 2nd general conference in New Delhi, India.
Attending the opening ceremony of the conference included Secretary General of IBC Most Venerable Lama Lobzang, Most Venerable Samdhong Rinpoche from Korea; Mrs. Stefania Abakerli from the World Bank, Minister of Home Affairs of India Shri Kiren Rijiju, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Tâm, and 300 delegates who are Buddhist leaders and scholars from 27 countries around the world.

The two-day event reviewed outstanding achievements of the IBC over the past seven years as well as elected members to the IBC’s Patronage Council and Executive Council.
The IBC was established in August, 2011 with the aim to promote the identification, conversation and preservation of Buddhist heritage sites and relics worldwide, especially in India and Nepal and foster the study and practice of the Buddha's teachings for solving common global issues.
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha is one of the founding members of the International Buddhist organization and at this congress Most Venerable Thích Thiện Tâm was elected as Vice Chairman of the IBC’s Executive Committee.
