Within a tour due to cover the Holy Land, 50 bishops from the United States of America, Canada, European countries, and South Africa are scheduled to visit the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on January 10-14, 2016.
This important visit by the bishops is designed to cooperate with the local Churches, particularly the Latin Patriarchate, which is the party initiating the visit, to be acquainted with the services provided by Caritas Jordan, in cooperation with public departments, to the forcibly displaced brethren from Iraq and Syria.
A press conference will be held with the bishop guests on January 11, 2016 at Our Lady of Peace Center in Amman in the presence of displaced Iraqi and Syrian families. Mass is scheduled to be celebrated later.
Vatican Radio website reports that the annual Holy Land Coordination pilgrimage of bishops from Europe, North America and South Africa includes Bethlehem and the Jordanian capital, Amman.
It adds that the Church leaders, including one Anglican bishop, are visiting local parishes, schools and development organizations to show the support of the worldwide Christian community as well as to gain insights into the complex political and religious problems underlying the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
