Visiting Buu Long temple

Buu Long temple was built according to the style of ancient Buddhist architecture with sophisticated carvings.

Buu Long temple is  located at 81 Nguyen Xien, Long Binh Ward, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, It official name is Buu Long monastery. Its precinct is  more 11 hectares, lying on the western hill in the National Culture History Park, next to  Dong Nai river,  

Buu Long  temple belongs to Theravada Buddhism. It was built  by  Vo Ha Thuat in 1942. In  1958, he offered this temple to Zen Buddhist Ho Tong, the   first supreme patriarch of Theravada Buddhism in Vietnam. Vo Ha Thuat became a Buddhist monk , his  religious name  was  Lao Tam.
 
 
In 1961, Narada Mahathera, Most Venerable in Srilanka presented the monastery a bodhi tree which was provined from the bodhi in Indian. It was grown in the pagoda precinct .
 
 
The temple   was built according to  the architecture of the ancient Buddhist culture. It  and has been restored many times. Temple consists of Main hall,  monastery, drawing room, residence for the monks ….
 
Moreover, temple has also an ascetic cavern for commemorating 6 ascetic years of Avalokitecvara  and lying Buddha statue which was made of granite This statue weighs about 50 tons. It is 8 meters long. This statue is decorated by 10 lamps. These lamps are made of granite. Many pictures  like the pictures in stone pillar of Asoka King in Indian Buddhism Relics are carved on these lamps
 
 
Especially, Buu Long temple  has a precious  Gotama Ceitya tower that worships  relics of Buddha and Holy Monks. This tower is 2000 meters wide and 70 meters high. Its architecture is  modern but it shows  ancient features  of Suvannabhumi ancient civilization in Southeast Asia.  
 
This tower is the biggest one  in Vietnam,. This tower  has three storeys.. It is next to four towers:  Dan Sinh, Thanh Dao, Phap Luan and Niet Ban. Gotama Ceitya tower has seating for more 2000 people who visit   Buddha’s Relic.
 
 
At present, the main hall  is restored from the old  room of founder Ho Tong and Venerable Lao Tam. Main hall looks  comfort  and spacious but its old form is still remained although it has added front hall.   
 
 
Buu Long temple is  located on the hill and   its air is very cool. Its precinct is very large with many trees so  visitors feel  restful and soothing. It is an ideal space for visitors to wipe off sorrows and heaps of daily life
