Calligraphy exhibition opens in Temple of Literature

A calligraphy exhibition jointly held by the Temple of Literature’s Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities and the Nhan My School of Calligraphy opened at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi on November 20 to mark Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20) and Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Day (November 23).

Present at the exhibition’s opening ceremony included Vice Chairwoman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Thị Minh Nga, Deputy Director of the Hanoi municipal Department of Culture and Sports Trần Thị Vân Anh, Dr. Lê Xuân Kiêu, Director of the Centre for Cultural and Scientific Activities of Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam, and Dr. Lê Trung Kiên, Head of the Nhan My School of Calligraphy.

The exhibition introduces more than 100 calligraphic works in Han (Chinese script) and Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script) by 100 calligraphers at home and abroad.

Works on display at the exhibition

The works on display based on Vietnamese literature and heritage associated with the Temple of Literature praise Vietnam’s tradition of respecting teachers and talented people.   

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Hanoi municipal Department of Culture and Sports Trần Thị Vân Anh said that the exhibition introduces to the public the ideological, cultural and aesthetic values of Vietnamese poems and literature, through the art of calligraphy.

The event will run until November 27.
