Bishop of Lang Son extends pre-Tet visit to Government religious committee
Overview of the reception

Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Nguyễn Ánh Chức hosted a reception on January 25 for a visiting delegation from Lang Son diocese led by Bishop Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) 2021.

Joining the reception included Chief of the GCRA’s office Nguyễn Văn Long and Director of the GCRA’s Catholic Affairs Department Lê Minh Khánh.

During the reception, Bishop Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri extended Tet greetings to the GCRA’s officials and staff. He also took the change to thank to the GCRA for creating favorable conditions to the diocese’s religious affairs over the past years.

While appreciating the Catholic delegation visit, Vice Chairman Nguyễn Ánh Chức spoke highly of practical contributions of the Vietnam Catholic Church in general and Lang Son diocese in proactively joining in social, charitable programs over the past years. The Church has held art performances for fund-raising to support flood victims in central region with the total contributions of over 12 billion VND, the official highlighted.

The Vice Chairman expressed hope that the Bishop and Catholic dignitaries would continue encouraging parishioners to proactively join in social movements launched by local authorities, as well as strictly taking preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic in religious practices.

He also took the chance to extend a traditional New Year of happiness and success to the Bishop, priests and parishioners in the diocese.

Lang Son diocese covers three provinces of Lang Son, Cao Bang and Ha Giang with over 6,000 parishioners.

Earlier, Director of the GCRA’s Catholic Affairs Department Lê Minh Khánh also received a delegation from the Congregation of Dominican Sisters under Thai Binh diocese led by Sister Ngô Thị Hạnh, Assistant to the Superior ahead of the Lunar New Year 2021.
