Deputy Minister of Home Affairs in charge of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) Vũ Chiến Thắng hosted on January 22 a warm reception for a visiting delegation from the Vietnam Presbyterian Church led by Pastor President Trần Quốc Bảo ahead of Lunar New Year (Tet) 2021.

Joining the reception included Vice Chairman of the GCRA Nguyễn Ánh Chức, Chief of the GCRA’s office Nguyễn Văn Long and Director of the Protestant Affairs Department Thiều Thị Hương.

During the visit, Pastor President Trần Quốc Bảo extended Tet greetings to the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, GCRA’s officials and staff, and shared with the host the result of the Church’s 3rd general conference.

The Pastor President in formed that the 3rd national congress of the Vietnam Presbyterian Church successfully convened in December last year in Ho Chi Minh city has selected 15 members to the Church’s management council for the 2020-2024 term, and took the chance to thank the GCRA for creating favorable conditions for the Church’s congress and religious affairs over the past years.

Speaking with the guests, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng thanked the Christian church’s for its visit ahead of the Vietnam traditional New Year 2021.

While extending congratulations on the success of the Church’s congress, he praised practical contributions of the Presbyterian Church’s Management Council in guiding members to observe state laws and proactively engage in social charities, especially supports extended to the Covid-19 prevention work and people seriously affected by floods in the Central region.

He asked the Presbyterian Church to strictly take preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic by the Government, the Ministry of Health and regulations of local authorities in religious practices, as well as encourage followers to perform their duties in the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure.

Deputy Minister Vũ Chiến Thắng wished the Pastor President, pastors of the Church’s Management Council, and all members of the Church a happy and successful New Year 2021.
