The event taking place Truc Lam centre saw the participation of Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Thích Thanh Dũng, Most Venerable President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn and large numbers of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers from localities.
Distinguished guests at the event included Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam, Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Ngô Hoàng Ngân and representatives from local authorities.
During the event, Buddhist monks, nuns and followers recalled the life and merits of King – Monk Trần Nhân Tông, the founder of Vietnam Truc Lam Zen Buddhism.
The Vietnam Truc Lam Zen Buddhism is the first indigenous Buddhist sect established in Vietnam. It has become a unique spiritual symbol of the country.

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam spoke highly of great contributions by King – Monk Trần Nhân Tông to Vietnam Buddhism and the country. He expressed hope that the Buddhist monks, nuns and followers would continue promoting fine traditions for strengthen social and religious unity as well as upholding the Lord Buddha’s values for peace and happiness in the country.
Right after the commemoration ceremony, a ribbon-cutting ritual was performed to inaugurate the first construction stage of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Palace.
The construction of the palace has an investment of more than 200 billion VND, which has been funded by sponsors and donors.
