The GCRA leader was welcomed by Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the VBS Central Executive Council in Quang Duc Monastery in the city’s District No.3.
While extending congratulations to the Buddhist leader and all Buddhist followers in the country on occasion of Vu Lan Festival, the government religious committee official affirmed that the Vietnam Government have always appreciated practical contributions, especially social charities and moral education activities, by the Buddhist church in the society. He also expressed hope that Buddhist dignitaries and followers of the church would continue upholding fine traditions for practically contributing to national unity and defense in the country as well as the happiness and prosperity for all people.
The Buddhist leader took the chance to share the important meaning of the festival, known as the Buddhist Parents’ Day, annually held in the 7th lunar month and after the Buddhist summer retreat.
From August 22-23, Vice Chairman Trần Tấn Hùng also visited and extended congratulations on Vu Lan Festival to several Buddhist dignitaries living in Ho Chi Minh City.
