Located in Dam Thuy Commune of Cao Bang province’s Trung Khanh district and inaugurated on December 15, 2014, Phat Tich Truc Lam Ban Gioc Pagoda is the first pagoda built in the northern border of Viet Nam, just 500 meters from the Ban Gioc waterfall.
The construction of Phat Tich pagoda was started in June 2013 on an area of 3ha with the total cost of nearly 38 billion VND. The architecture of the pagoda followed the Vietnamese design pattern with ironwood and traditional bricks and tiles.
From the pagoda situated on the side of Phia Nhan Mountain, visitors could overlook the whole Ban Gioc Waterfall wrapped in paddy fields and mountain range.
The pagoda’s main facilities include the Three Jewels worshiping building, bell and drum towers, and temples for worshiping Mother Goddess, late President Hồ Chí Minh, late General Võ Nguyên Giáp and fallen soldiers and other auxiliary works.
The most impressive works in the pagoda are the probably bronze bell with a weight up to 1.5 tons and the Boddhisatva statue area
Phat Tich Ban Gioc pagoda has practically served the cultural and spiritual life of people living in the border areas as well as contributed to the socio-economic development in the province.
