Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President cum General Secretary of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council, has attended and delivered a speech at the Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

In his speech, the Buddhist dignitary regarded Buddhist teaching as an efficient source of energy for protecting Mother Earth, contributing to preserve the natural beauty of our planet.

Ven. Thích Đức Thiện also informed that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has proactively engaged in the work of environment protection and climate change adaptation, especially since the VBS signed a coordination program with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

The environment protection and climate change response have been clearly stated in Buddhist affairs program and action plans of the VBS, together with social charities for helping the disadvantaged and victims of natural calamities, he added.
