New Catholic Seminary in Vietnam North approved

The establishment of Thai Binh Thanh Tam Major Seminary was officially approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs on July 27.

The home affairs ministry’s decision approving the establishment of Thanh Tam Major Seminary signed by Deputy Minister Nguyễn Trọng Thừa was accorded with the Article 38 of the Law on Belief and Religion 2016, upon the recommendation made by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and based on request submitted by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam and Thai Binh Diocese.

Accordingly, the major seminary under Thai Binh Diocese would be located in Thai Binh City’s Dong Hoa Commune in the Northern province of Thai Binh, about 100km from Hanoi.

Under the home affairs ministry’s approval decision, the government religious committee has been assigned to guide administrative procedures to be completed by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam and Thai Binh Diocese for the full establishment of Thai Binh Thanh Tam Major Seminary.
