Vietnam unites to defeat pandemic
Party General Secretary and State President Nguyễn Phú Trọng calls on all Vietnamese people to stay united to defeat Covid-19.

With the Covid-19 pandemic continuing to spread worldwide, leaving devastated economies in its wake, Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President Nguyễn Phú Trọng on Monday appealed to all Vietnamese inside and outside Vietnam to stay united in their will and actions in the fight against the pandemic.

People support pandemic prevention and control

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyễn Phú Trọng said that under the leadership of the Party and the State, and the management of the Government and the Prime Minister, the National Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, agencies, localities, and the entire political system have stayed united in taking concerted measures to contain the spread of the epidemic, while continuing to carry out socio-economic development tasks and ensure social welfare and security.

The promising results of the fight so far are a tribute to the strength of national unity and the resolve of the Party, the people, and the army, which has won recognition and praise around the world, he said.

Mr. Trọng lauded the involvement of all Party committees, organizations, and officials, and the untiring efforts of the health sector, the army, public security forces, ministries, agencies, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the business community, and media agencies. He expressed special thanks to compatriots, comrades and soldiers at home, and to Vietnamese living abroad for their trusting and enthusiastic support for the fight.

Being united as one is the foundation for victory

Mr. Trọng said Vietnam has reached a critical point at which the risk of community transmission of the virus is highest. He urged everyone to pay close attention to measures designed to contain the pandemic.

He emphasized the need to closely monitor the situation, anticipate the worst-case scenario, and promptly come up with effective measures to contain the spread of the disease.

He asked that each agency, unit, organization, and locality to follow instructions carefully, closely coordinate their efforts, and prioritize their resources, time, and effort to the fight.

Mr. Trọng said the fight against Covid-19 will have an impact on every organization and individual. He called on all Vietnamese people inside and outside the country to unite as one to effectively implement all guidelines of the Party and State in the interest of public health. Each citizen must be a soldier in the battle against the disease, he said.

The Party and State leader said that as an active and responsible member of the international community, Vietnam is making an all-out effort to cooperate and coordinate with other countries, especially those hit hardest by the pandemic, because global solidarity is the necessary foundation for ultimate victory against the pandemic.

Concluding his appeal, Mr. Trọng once again called on the entire Vietnamese nation to join hands and stay united to overcome all difficulties and challenges in order to stamp out this epidemic.
