Dr. Vũ Chiến Thắng, Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) has sent a message of congratulation to the UN Day of Vesak 2019 slated on May 12th – 14th in Ha Nam province.

In the message, Chairman Vũ Chiến Thắng highlighted that the UN Vesak celebration is an international Buddhist event approved by the UN for honoring Buddhist contributions to world peace and sustainable development.

While extending greetings of peace and happiness to Buddhist followers all over the world on occasion of Vesak celebrations 2019, he confirmed the GCRA would warmly welcome and render full support to the UN Day of Vesak celebration to be hosted in Vietnam for the third time.

He stressed that the GCRA would do its best for the success of the UN Day of Vesak 2019 in Vietnam and expressed hope that every participant in the UN Buddhist event would be a messenger of peace, friendship and cooperation, and that the UN Vesak 2019 would practically contribute to the achievements of the UN’s millennium goals, especially including environment protection, world peace and poverty reduction.

Dr. Thắng also stated that the hosting of the UN Day of Vesak 2019 is a vivid demonstration of religious freedom in Vietnam as well as the development and contribution of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the country and the international community.
