A ceremony for celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Sub-Institute for Buddhist Studies and the Buddhist Studies Magazine will be held on November 27 in Hanoi.

The Sub-Institute for Buddhist Studies in Hanoi was established in 1990 by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and the Buddhist Studies Magazine was founded in the same year as an official publication of the VBS.

During the past 30 years, the Sub-Institute for Buddhist Studies in Hanoi has translated and published Buddhist Sutra, Sastra and Vinaya, and about 30 publications on Buddhist philosophy, history and culture, etc.

The Buddhist Studies Magazine has published 165 editions on Buddhism in general and Vietnamese Buddhism in particular.

The 30th anniversary of the Sub-Institute for Buddhist Studies and the Buddhist Studies Magazine aims to review the historical development of the two Buddhist agencies, as well as honor contributions of Buddhist dignitaries, monks and nuns, researchers, scholars and collaborators over the past years.

As part of the anniversary, a seminar themed “30 years of the Sub-Institute for Buddhist Studies and the Buddhist Studies Magazine: Achievements and Orientations” will also be held at Quan Su pagoda on November 27, 2020.
