Quang Tri provincial authorities held on June 11 a meeting to honor key monastics in building new-style rural and civilized urban areas in the province

The event saw the presence of Secretary of the provincial Party’s Committee Nguyễn Văn Hùng, Chairwoman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Lê Thị Lan Hương, representatives from relevant departments and outstanding dignitaries and deacons of religions in the locality.

Quang Tri has currently three operative religions of Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism with over 82,658 followers.

Over the past years, local religious followers have proactively participated in movements launched by local authorities and made practical contributions for the socio-economic development in the locality.

During the 2016-2020 period, local religious organizations have presented over 141,700 gift sets worth over 71 billion VND to poor households, orphans and orange/dioxin victims, etc.

During the event, 90 outstanding religious dignitaries and deacons were awarded certificates of merit for their practical contributions in building new-style rural areas and civilized urban areas.
