The culture and sport department in Khanh Hoa province has sent an official note to the provincial monument conservation center asking for encourage people to avoid votive papers burning at Ponagar Tower.

In the note, acknowledged that, thanks to efforts by the provincial monument conservation center, the burning of votive paper offerings has decreased markedly, ensuring fire safety and explosion prevention at the tower.

In order to build a model for expansion to other cultural places, the provincial culture and sport department asked the Centre to continue encouraging people not burn votive papers and set the target ensuring that from August, 2019, 100% visitors would not burn votive papers at the tower. The votive burning places shall also be closed in order to limit and later, stop usage of these places.
