The festival is an opportunity for Thai ethnic people to give thanks to heaven and earth, deities and parents, and pray for favorable weather, bumper crops, and peaceful and prosperous life, expressing the spirit of community cohesion of Thai people.
The festival includes two parts of cultural, worshiping rites and festive activities.
During the rituals, those who have been cured by a shaman perform rites expressing their gratitude to the shaman, who considered as their adoptive father.
The festive activities include fun folk shows, teaching descendants to reclaim land, practicing for buffaloes to plow, explore wet rice civilization of ethnic minorities. Along with that are some witty pantomime repertoires of bad habits, encouraging goodness and beauty in everyday life, and smooth and rhythmic dance around Neu tree with with the sound of drums and gongs.
Playing folk games at the festival
Coming to the festival, visitors also have a chance to participate in singing challenge, folk games and enjoy the specialties of the Northwest mountain.
