The Ba Trieu Temple festival, one of the largest annual spring festivals in the country, took place in Trieu Loc commune of Hau Loc district in the northern province of Thanh Hoa on March 27, the 22nd day of the second lunar month.
Artists recreated the Ba Trieu uprising which took place in the year 248.
The performance was put on by artists from Thanh Hoa traditional theatre and Lam Son theatre.
Pham Duy Phuong, Director of Thanh Hoa province’s Department of Culture and Sports, gives an address at the opening ceremony of the festival.
The event saw the presence of a number of delegates.
An official ritual is held by the elderly in Trieu Loc commune.
Pham Dang Quyen, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa’s provincial People’s Committee, beats the drum to signal the opening of the festival.
He offers incense at the festival to commemorate national hero Trieu Thi Trinh.
Each year the festival attracts hundreds of visitors.
