To ensure the right to freedom of belief, religion in accordance with the Constitution 2013 and in conformity with the belief-related, religious activities in the real life in Vietnam, the 14th National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam passed the Law on Belief, Religion at its 2nd session on November 18, 2016.
To detail the articles and paragraphs specified in the Law, and concurrently work out enforcement measures to ensure that the belief-related, religious activities shall be actualized, the Government of Vietnam has issued Decree No. 162/2017/ND-CP dated December 30th, 2017, detailing some articles and measures for enforcement of the Law on belief, religion. Both the Law and the Decree take effect as from January 1st, 2018.
To satisfy the foreigners’ need to research and learn about the above-mentioned Law and Decree, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) has these new legal documents translated into English in the book published by The Gioi Publishers entitled “Vietnamese legal documents on belief, religion”.
