Most Venerable President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thiện Nhơn and most venerables of the VBS’s Southern office welcomed the delegation.
During the visiting reception, while extended best wishes to most venerables of the Southern VBS, Indian Consul General K.Srikar Reddy recalled the long-standing traditional friendship between Vietnam and India and expressed his admiration for practical contributions made by the Vietnam Buddhist Church.
According to the Consul General, Vietnam is one of India’s most important partners and Vietnam and India have developed exchanges across political, cultural, and scientific.
On this occasion, the Consul General also called for cooperation in education, tourism, especially pilgrimage to Buddhist monuments in India.

Speaking with the guests, Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn informed that the VBS have attended many international Buddhist conferences hosted in India and will send monks and nuns who attend the India tourism seminar to be held on March 19 in Vietnam, contributing to strengthen the relation between the VBS and the Indian Buddhist Church. The Most Venerable wished the Indian Consul General success in his new post and further promoting the fine relation between the VBS and Indian Buddhism.
As reported, currently, Vietnam has four pagodas in India and India has provided nine scholarships for Vietnamese monks and nuns and other 15 scholarships will be granted to Vietnamese monks and nuns in the coming time.
