Vietnam Buddhists present ventilators to India for COVID-19 fight

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) on May 12 delivered 100 portable ventilators and 50 oxygen generators worth VND14 billion to Indian representatives as part of efforts to assist the Indian Government in their ongoing COVID-19 fight.

Most Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council, said the gifts have been donated by Buddhist monks and nuns, alumni in India, and local businesses, all of whom expect the Indian people would soon weather the COVID-19 crisis.

Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma displayed his sincere thanks to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Buddhist followers, and Vietnamese people for their support to India and its citizens.

India will continue to aid the international community in combating the SARS-CoV-2 virus, by providing over 65 million Indian-manufactured doses of COVID-19 vaccines to 90 nations globally, Ambassador Verma stressed.

Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Executive Council, shared his belief that the solidarity which exists between Vietnamese and Indian people will help both sides to overcome difficulties in the current COVID-19 fight.

Through greater efforts, the Indian Government and its people will be able to surpass the current situation caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, Most Venerable Nhiễu said.
