VBS in Kon Tum holds meeting on UN Vesak 2019
Overview of the meeting

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee in Kon Tum held on April 30 a meeting on UN Vesak 2019 at its office based in Hue Chieu pagoda.

The event taking saw the participation of Most Venerable Member of the Central VBS’s Discernment Council Thích Chánh Quang, Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Quảng Xả, Most Venerable Deputy Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Huệ Thông, Buddhist monks and nuns from the VBS’s Executive Committee in the provinces of Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Dak Nong, and followers in the locality.

Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Thị Nga and Deputy Director of the Home Affairs Department Nguyễn Thành Trung also joint the event.

During the event, the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee briefed about activities to celebrate UN Vesak 2019 in Vietnam in general and in Kon Tum province in particular.

A representative from the Central VBS informed preparation works for the UN Vesak 2019 to be held on May 12-14 in Ha Nam.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director Nguyễn Thành Trung suggested the provincial VBS to organize the Vesak 2019 in the province solemnly, safely, and economically, contributing to the successful celebration of the UN Vesak 2019.
