Buddhists nationwide join online Buddhist recitation on War Invalids and Martyrs Day

Responding to a call by Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn, President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council, the VBS’s Executive Committees in provinces and cities and Buddhist worshipping places in the country simultaneously beat at 6 a.m. on July 27 three bell rounds and the Prajnaparamita drum for a spiritual uplifting of martyrs, on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2021).

During the event, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists also join an online recitation of Bhaiṣajyaguru Sutra in order to pray for the successful control of the Covid-19 pandemic control and peace and blessings to the country and its people.

On this occasion, several VBS Executive Committees in provinces and cities also held requiems, lanterns release and candlelit rituals for paying tribute to soldiers on the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day.
